Getting Together

Public Meetings

Throughout the year we hold public meetings in various places around the country. This is partly to raise awareness of low vision issues as well as highlighting solutions for those living with sight loss. We usually have several guest speakers covering a wide range of topics. We always allow lots of time for social chat, so people can share their stories, and ideas with people who have similar sight loss challenges.

AGM and Conference

Our AGM and Conference is held in a different part of New Zealand each year, typically the last Saturday of September (World Retina Day). Be sure to check our News & Events page and our Facebook page for more details.

Peer Support Groups

Retina NZ has a network of support groups to help individuals and their families learn to cope with sight loss. Support groups offer a safe, confidential environment in which to share your concerns of what the future might hold. You will hear how others having similar experiences to you, find ways and develop strategies to help maintain their independence, achieve their goals and lead a fulfilling life.

Some of these support groups are organised by Retina NZ volunteers, plus we also work closely with other groups such as Blind Low Vision NZ, VICTA, other seniors groups and independently run low vision support groups. We can help put you in touch with a support group in your area.
